Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jose Manuel Raneda is a program manager at Lok Senior Center, overseeing a volunteer workforce. More than 100 people work alongside like-minded individuals, making a difference in the lives of those with disabilities, many of whom are Spanish monolingual. Jose Manuel Raneda coordinates with organizational partners such as the SF Municipal Transit Authority and SF City College, and facilitates programs in areas spanning social activities, computer services, food distribution, and gardening.
Jose Manuel Raneda started at On Lok in an Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) specialist role. His background extends to a position as LGBTQ programs coordinator with the Curry Senior Center in the city. He worked to help seniors obtain entitlement benefits and secure housing, transportation, and food. Also coordinating men’s groups, he brought people with diverse needs and viewpoints together in a caring and supportive environment.
Additionally, he produced the weekly podcast, Revolting Seniors, which provided seniors in the LGBTQ community a forum for expressing views on topical issues. Interested in history, travel, and painting, he contributes to animal care and control efforts in his free time.
